Exam Prep
Here are some new practice problems to aid in your exam prep (NOTE: Not every question relates to what we have covered. We are at a different point in the material compared to last year, so there are some questions that reference material we have yet to cover. Ignore them please.
Practice 1 (old quiz)
Practice 2 (old quiz) - this reference using the "back of the sheet" - there was a periodic table copied with it. Use your own periodic table when needed.
Practice 3 (last year's exam)
Practice 4 (EM Radiation)
Practice 5 (Exam from 2010)

Naming Ionic Compounds and Covalent Molecules
Here is an online quiz generator for naming. You may not be REQUIRED to know the same ions quizzed here, but most should be familiar. If need be, look up what you are not supposed to know and use it properly. You can continue to click TRY AGAIN to get new questions.
Also, I have posted two Naming Tutorials under class resources. They walk you through the steps taken to correctly name chemicals.

EXAM REMINDER
Reminder that you will have a Unit 1 Exam during our next day 3 class (8:30 am block). This will occur on Tuesday October 1st.
Course Readings can be found under the Important Document tab
Metric system conversions handout is also under Important Documents
There are a handful of presentations under the Study Resources tab
There are also example problems under the Study Resources tab
Good luck and let me know if you need to meet for any extra help.

Cheeto Lab and Sci-Notation Practice
Reminder that you are required to bring in something that can:
Hold a cheeto that is on fire
Hold water above the cheeto that is on fire
Insulate the apparatus to ensure all heat from said cheeto goes into the water.
For those of you looking for Scientific Notation Practice, look under the class resources tab above

FIRST QUIZ
Your first quiz will encompass the concepts and content we have looked at to date, including lab. I am estimating the quiz should take between 20 and 30 minutes. More details will follow as we continue with Unit 1 this week.
Expect the quiz to include: Questions involving laboratory techniques, equipment, safety and measurements, unit conversions using the factor label method (dimensional analysis) and density.
Unit 1 Quiz - Day 5 - Tuesday September 17th.

Note: The bottom link contains 3 separate links to sample problems with answers.
In total, there are 46 practice problems that you may do.....if needed.
Also, here is a tutorial that walks you through the steps we took in class. If you did not take the best notes or needed a brush-up, check it out
